Age of Sigmar: Blades of Khorne Rule Preview – The Carnage Is Coming

July 16, 2025

The Blades of Khorne have a new Battletome on the way and we’re getting a look at the new Blood Tithe Rules!

Khorne doesn’t care where the blood comes from as long as it’s flowing. Today, we’re getting a better idea of how the Blood Tithe will  change in the upcoming Battletome for Blades of Khorne. You’ll still earn points for slaughter but how you spend them is changing.

“They say that you never have to work a day in your life if you love your job, and the Blades of Khorne have got it all figured out. Whatever their outlook on life, these lacerating lunatics have a new battletome on the way. This new book contains a revamp of their signature army ability, giving you the power to bring even more carnage to the battlefield.”

Blades of Khorne – Blood Tithe Points

The first thing to note is that you’ll still accumulate points based on EVERY unit destroyed — that includes your own. However, unlike previously were you’d spend them to activate abilities, this time around you’re paying to unlock them in a branching manner.

The first ability is Murderlust which is free. The next tier costs 1 point and unlocks either Punish the Pacifist or Divine Scorn. Punish the Pacifist will “harm units that shy away from combat.” Again, that also includes your own so you’re going to want to get in there.

From that branch you can then jump down to Glorius Combat or Naught which causes a -1 to hit rolls for shooting attacks that target your units. Or you can opt for Murder the Mystic. There’s also Revel in Battle which is the branch after Punish the Pacifist. But honestly, if you can get to it, Revel in Battle is pretty mean.

No weapon abilities activate for units that charge your Blades of Khorne units. It’s just straight-up combat here, folks.

“At the top tier, Slaughter Triumphant grants all units that charge an extra attack, while Cleave Wide the Grin of Khorne – how poetic – adds 1 to hit rolls for all combat attacks you make. “

Deciding how you traverse this bloody path is really one of the neat things about the army. You’ll really get to customize how your army functions. I’m looking forward to seeing this in action.

That said, if this all seems a tad confusing, there is another trait that’s a bit more straightforward.

Blades of Khorne – The OTHER Battle Trait

Blood Drenched is another ability that an only be triggered when “half of the total units of both player’s army lists are destroyed…” But boy is it potent!

This kicks off a quad-stack of effects that will apply for the rest of the battle. Bonus rend, damage, and Crit (mortal) will apply to various Blades of Khorne units. But they do lose the positive bonuses to their save rolls. Getting into a blood frenzy is a double-edged sword.

The Blades of Khorne are sharpening their weapons and are looking to let the blood flow. Are you ready for the new Blood Tithe? Or will you part of the sacrifice to Khorne?
