Warhammer 40K: Tyranid Combat Patrol Pricing Breakdown

July 21, 2025

We can’t let this one fly under the radar. Let’s do the math on the upcoming Tyranid Combat Patrol for Warhammer 40,000!

Games Workshop announced the Combat Patrol boxes for a trio of armies a bit ago. Well today I wanted to take a moment and analyze the Tyranid Combat Patrol to see what sort of a deal we’re getting with that boxed set. I don’t know about you but my Hive Fleet can always use some more biomass. So let’s see if this is a deal or not!

Tyranid Combat Patrol Pricing Breakdown

Contents:

10x Genestealers $58

3x Tyrant Guard $80

Parasite of Mortrex $42

Biovore $52

Individual MSPR: $232

Total Estimated Savings: $62

The savings is based on the price point of $170 for a Combat Patrol. With this box, you’re basically getting the Genestealers baked in so it’s not a terrible deal overall.

Next Steps?

So is this one a winner? Well, if you’re looking to start a Tyranid force it’s not bad by any means. I do think it’s kind of weird mix of options from a lore standpoint — but I don’t think that really matters here. Tactically, it’s a varied enough mix to allow you to dabble and not be completely locked into a build. For Combat Patrol games, it’s probably a pretty solid force.

I also think this Combat Patrol slots in nicely with the Starter sets, too. I kind of wonder if that was the real goal here. You could easily expand a starter set with this box and not have any overlap in units.

Personally, I really like the Tyranid range in general. I’m not the best person to ask about what to get next because my honest answer is “all of it.” But that’s because I just really like to collect the Tyranids. If I were to constrain my answers, I’d say get the Codex first and figure out what you’d like to play. The Tyranids do have a LOT of options and can be built to suit almost any playstyle. You can go for fast and elite close combat. You could build into some very deadly shooting builds. You could even opt for a “flood the board” build with an endless swarm. Or a mix. It’s really up to you.

So I do like this Combat Patrol because you get a peek into the Tyranids with this range of miniatures. I can’t recommend you buy more than a single copy of this one though. You won’t want the extra Parasite of Mortex miniatures and the deal is “okay enough” but not worth doubling-up.

I’d say get one to start. Maybe a Starter Set if you’re really brand new. And the codex. Then figure out what YOU want to play.

This Combat Patrol ain’t bad…but it’s not a “repeat” purchase in my book.
