Maybe the latest Rumor Engine from Games Workshop isn’t a fox but it’s certainly a tail. Who’s tail? That’s what we’re trying to figure out.
Welcome to another Tuesday and a brand new Rumor Engine from Games Workshop. We’ve got another image that fits in the “I’m pretty sure what I’m seeing but still have no clue what it could be” category. Don’t believe me? Have a look for yourself and let me know what you think.
“After last week’s clearly Cryptek staff, we’ve got another obviously dynastic drop from the grim darkness of the far future. This is presumably the first Phaeron with a real fur tail – who says Necron fashion has been stagnant since the fall?”
Rumor Engine – Fox Tail
Yeah, I’m not really falling for the whole “It’s a Necron” thing the Rumor Engine articles are going for this month. Although that would certainly be quite a twist on things if it were true! That said, we’re clearly looking at the hind-portion of an animal. What’s curious is the branches that appear to be entwined with the animal as well. That leads me to believe we’re looking at a more Sylvaneth-related creature.
Now, we’ve seen the Sylvaneth start to get more of these centaur-esque creatures. We’ve also seen more of these Kurnothi units in the smaller game systems from GW.
I don’t know for sure if these are related but it would make a lot of sense. The tail and the wood branches would certainly fit the vibes of this army. Perhaps now that GW has brought back the Chaos Dwarves we’re going to see a return/expansion of the Wood Elves in an updated fashion, too. I doubt we’ll get a full blown Wood Elf army as they are slated for The Old World line. But a sprinkle of new units in the same style as the Kurnothi would make sense. It seems like a natural bridge to cross for the Sylvaneth range.
We already have tree people, giant bugs, and spirit creatures. Why not some more mystical forest creatures with some aelves mixed in? It could totally work.
Anyhow, I can’t unsee that now. So if you’ve got a different idea I’m ready to read about it in the comments. Who knows! Maybe it’s actually a new Space Marine Lieutenant miniature. You never can tell!
It wouldn’t be a new Space Wolf Lieutenant…what chapter would it be from?
