The legendary real-time strategy franchise Dawn of War makes its long-awaited return with classic base-building, massive battles, and four distinct factions.
Deep Silver and KING Art Games have officially announced Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4, unveiled during Opening Night Live at gamescom 2025. The reveal marks the long-awaited comeback of one of the most iconic real-time strategy series, returning to its roots with large-scale armies, base-building, and cinematic storytelling.
The global reveal featured a brand-new CGI trailer, narrated by Captain Cyrus of the Blood Ravens 10th Company, showcasing the game’s brutal conflicts and playable factions: Space Marines, Orks, Adeptus Mechanicus, and Necrons. Returning characters such as Jonah and Gorgutz also feature, highlighting the series’ deep Warhammer 40K lore.
Set roughly 200 years after the events of Dawn of War: Dark Crusade, the new title promises a rich narrative written in part by Black Library author John French. Each of the four factions comes with its own dedicated campaign, adding up to over 70 missions with non-linear progression and multiple endings.
Alongside the campaigns, Dawn of War 4 includes Skirmish, co-op, competitive multiplayer, and the return of fan-favourite mode The Last Stand. Players can expect 10+ Commanders, 110+ units and buildings, and customisation tools such as an in-game editor and unit painter.
Innovations like the Combat Director system aim to elevate RTS combat, blending the spectacle of cinematic melee clashes with the tactical depth the series is known for.
We have to say that with all these features, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 is shaping up to be one incredible RTS if everything goes according to plan from now until launch. Fingers crossed!
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 is set to launch on PC in 2026.
