Goatboy’s Grimdark Armylist: World Eater Las-Cannon Counterpunch

August 22, 2025

Goatboy here with a World Eater’s list that can take a hit, and counterpunch you back with a bunch of ANGRY Las-cannons!

Goatboy here with a World Eaters list I am thinking of playing in the next event.  With the crazy meta with Death Guard and Knight bodies I wonder if moving into a more counter punch/shooty design would be a better way to go.  This would mean moving towards some tougher counter punch bodies and moving away from the common MSU builds we have seen.  I think there is a really brutal shooting option for the World Eaters and with some of the push of armies going into a few big bodies it might be worth it to look at a boat load of Lascannons.

As you can see I obviously want to throw in some shooting options for my World Eaters armies.  I really liked the list I tested for WarGamesCon earlier this year and had some good luck with it.  I have swapped to some of the common “solved” World Eater options for later events but I did like how this shooting option was set up.  This also isn’t just me throwing in 3 Forgefiends and calling it solved.  I think I can easily set up an army that has enough of the pieces to help me “solve” some of this Meta we see.

Right now we see games broken up into MSU tough options, MSU Vehicle options, and piles of Big bodies to deal with.  All of these seem to point to cool big guns that will easily kill a model when they get hit and wounded by it.  Does this mean Lascannons are cool again?  Who the heck knows I just think having a few in World Eaters mixed with some cool counter offensive options might be good.

World Eater Las-Cannon Counterpunch Tactics

This is a pretty simple set up for your armylist. You have enough random bits to get to the middle, you got some shooting options to help keep people from just being out in the open, and then you have even meaner punch options with the 2 Maulerfiends.  Yes it feels weird losing some Berzerkers but I have the feeling just having a few extra punching options helps keep this murder sandwich going.  I really enjoyed the Maulerfiends when I played them at LSO and think they do well as another melee threat.

This is me taking a few things from all the lists I played before and trying to smash them together.  I hope I can play test this at least a few times before I head out to another event and try to bring my version of angry World Eaters to the tabletop.
