Gamers can now get an early look at GOG Galaxy’s next major overhaul, if they manage to score an invite. GOG Galaxy 2.0 entered into closed beta testing this week, and people who have a GOG account can sign up to become testers now.
GOG Galaxy 2.0 is mainly focused on one thing: breaking down barriers. The update brings together your friends lists and game collections from different platforms and storefronts.
Once updated, you’ll be able to sign into your accounts across platforms to view your game collections in one spot. You’ll also have access to your friends lists from platforms you’ve connected to GOG Galaxy 2.0, allowing you to see what your friends are doing and chat with them.

It’s a bit of a crazy idea, but as the PC ecosystem splits further between platforms like Steam and the Epic Games Store, GOG Galaxy 2.0 could work as a single stop for viewing your games and interacting with friends. There’s even the potential for Microsoft to hop on board in some fashion, as Xbox chief Phil Spencer has shown interest.
If you want to try GOG Galaxy 2.0 ahead of its full launch, you can sign up for the closed beta at GOG. There’s no word on when a full release is expected.
