It appears the new Rumor Engine is out today and it’s got a new boomstick to show off. Time to get locked and loaded.
Welcome to a new Tuesday and a brand new Rumor Engine from Games Workshop. We’ve got a pretty clear picture of a fancy looking weapon. I seriously doubt we’re looking at something from the Mortal Realms today. It’s all 40k today. But you should probably have a look before we go much further.
“Continuing on this month’s theme of ‘Rumour Engine images that are simply too obvious that we can’t pretend they’re something else’, here’s a magic wand.”
Rumor Engine – The Boomstick
So yeah…I think it’s safe to say we can disregard the text from the Rumor Engine team this week. That’s not a magic wand. I seriously can’t see this being set in a fantasy setting at all. Not unless a traveler from grimdark gets sucked through the chaos warp and get teleported back into the Mortal Realms. But that would never happen…
ANYHOW, let’s just focus on what this is. Clearly it’s a weapon and looks Imperial or Imperial adjacent. It could be a weapon from the Leagues of Votann for instance. They tend to have those leather straps with ammo reserves.
Speaking of which, this seems like those could ammo reserves could be slugs for the weapon. However, this weapon also has one of those strange cylinders for reloading. Maybe it’s some sort of charged or energy weapon.
I did want to mention that, again, the Leagues aren’t the only ones that use straps with ammo reserves on them. We’ve seen that on Space Marines as well. Plus this weapon does look a somewhat boxy and bolter-like. Could it be some new experimental weapon? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Another hat I would toss in the ring is the Adeptus Mechanicus. Now, I think this one is a long shot and I’m not 100% behind this theory. But if it IS an experimental weapon, then the crazy tech-enthusiasts of Mars just might be the forgers of this new weapon.
This is the part where I kick it over to you. If you have any ideas as to what or who is using this weapon let us know in the comments. I’m curious about where you think GW is headed with this one.
