While we’ve had a number of Warhammer 40K games, none of them have been quite as popular as Space Marine 2. It opened the floodgates for Games Workshop, which is probably busy signing deals for more games set in the universe, the first of which is Dawn of War 4. The game will primarily feature the Dark Angels, but it seems like there might be another big surprise for 40K fans.
Primarch’s are the most powerful beings in the Imperium of Man, aside from the Emperor himself. Given this scale of power, we’ve never seen any of them appear in a video game before. However, it looks like Dawn of War 4 could possibly give us our first look at a Primarch in a video game, and it’s none other than The Lion himself.
Lion El’Jonson Could Feature In Dawn Of War 4
As spotted by PCGamesN, a file name that hints at Lion El’Jonson may have been leaked in an interview with German channel Buten un Binnen. In a segment where one of the devs were talking about the Dark Angels Repulsor Executioner and how detailed the units can be, an easily missable file name reads ‘TheLion’ 40K will immediately recognise it as the nickname for Lion El’Jonson, who just happens to be the Primarch for the Dark Angels.
While we have no confirmation on whether he’ll actually appear in the game, PCGN noted that programmers familiar with how the system works say that the file name is related to the Repulsor itself. Perhaps it features a lion sigil as an asset. Primarchs usually work behind the scenes and don’t get their hands dirty unless the enemy is literally at the gate, so maybe we shouldn’t get our hopes up too much.
The Warhammer 40K universe is more popular than ever, with Games Workshop licensing the IP for Amazon’s recent Secret Level anthology as well as Henry Cavill’s 40K project. Perhaps The Lion may make a brief cameo in a cutscene, but it’s unlikely that he’ll be playable, mostly because of how OP he would be.
