Games Workshop has a pair of Chaos Battleforces on the way to Warhammer 40,000. What sort of a deal are we looking at?
The new Battleforces coming this season are looking pretty great. At least if you’re looking to start any of these armies. GW did say these Battleforce Boxes would get you all of the miniature in them “at a lower price than buying them separately” which is also great. We took a look at the Imperial Battleforce Boxes yesterday and now we’re tackling the pair of Chaos Battleforces on the way.
Again, we don’t know if they are going to be the same price across the board. But I’m thinking these Battleforces may be in the $240-$280 price range. So I’ll do an array of prices to show the savings at different points. That said, we’ve got two boxes to check out so let’s get going!
Emperor’s Children – Blissbound Warband Pricing Breakdown
Contents
Fulgrim, Daemon Primarch of Slaanesh $175
Emperor’s Children transfer sheet ??
Total Individual MSRP $364
Total Estimated Savings
- $240 = $124
- $260 = $104
- $280 = $84
This is one of those Battleforces that kind of throws off the curve a bit. Depending on the pricing this one might end up being one of the steeper discounted options. If this comes in at $240, you’re basically getting the Flawless Blades for free…which could be a tempting offer. I’d keep an eye out for this one in particular.
Chaos Space Marines – Hellforged Warband
Contents
Venomcrawler & 2x Obliterators $82
10x Legionaries $65*

2x Chaos Space Marine transfer sheets ???
Total Individual MSRP $354
Total Estimated Savings
- $240 = $114
- $260 = $94
- $280 = $74
*Did you know that the basic Chaos Space Marines box of 10x Legionaries is just not on GW website? I got a “404 Page Not Found” error for it. I wonder if we’re going to see a new kit for them soon. You can still get them in the Combat Patrol and I had to pull up an old Pricing Breakdown to verify that price of $65.
Anyhow, this does seem like a pretty solid deal (depending on where the final price lands). To be fair, you could also just get the Combat Patrol and then build your own CSM Battleforce around that…but we’ll have to wait and see how it pans out. For new players this could end up being a great way to jump into CSM. For existing players, there’s nothing really new here. Unless you just missed these or want to add more to your collection, the only real thing appealing here is the savings.
Overall, both of these boxes seem like good starting points for both of their respective flavors of CSM. Fulgrim is obviously a centerpiece miniature for the Emperor’s Children. The Lord Discordant can be a centerpiece unit for your CSM army, too. It really depends on how you want to build around these two Battleforces later on.
