Warhammer 40K White Scars Combat Patrol Review – Ride The Wind

October 14, 2025

The White Scars Space Marine chapter’s method of combat is predicated on swift violence of action, with a focus on the swift. They’re known to ride to war on bikes and speeders, anything that can get them into the fray quickly, and then out again to regroup and attack again. This is captured in their new Combat Patrol box, where every warrior is mounted, or can be mounted in a vehicle. In this article, we take a look at the White Scars Combat Patrol box, seeing what it contains and how you can use it in games of Warhammer 40,000.

We’ve been covering Warhammer 40K for a while on the site, and you can check out our full Warhammer 40K Guide, or our preview for the Leviathan box that launched the latest edition of the rules.

What It Contains

The White Scars Combat Patrol box contains:

  • Suboden Khan – A White Scars captain, mounted on a grav-bike.
  • 3x Outriders – Space Marines riders on Raider pattern combat bikes.
  • 5x Assault Intercessors – Close combat-focused Space Marines.
  • 1x Implusor –  A grav-tank for the Assault Intercessors to ride in.

The units the White Scars Combat Patrol contains can be used straight away in Combat Patrol games of Warhammer 40K. All players need are the Core Rules, Combat Patrol rules, and the datasheets for their Combat Patrol, which can be downloaded for free at Warhammer Community. Then you just need some dice, a measuring tool, and an opponent with their own Combat Patrol.

Combat Patrols are pre-generated forces, but you do get a couple of decisions around abilities and missions, which keeps that style of gaming balanced and easy to get in to. The Combat Patrols are also a great place to start your 40K journey, and allow you to expand into full armies once you find a force you like the playstyle of. Or you can continue to play Combat Patrol, picking up different boxes and sticking with the quicker style of games over full games of Warhammer 40K.

Combat Patrol

We’re still waiting for the rules to be revealed for the new White Scars Combat Patrol, and we’ll update this article after. This will be the first White Scars Combat Patrol released, and while there have been vehicles in previous Space Marine Combat Patrols, this will be the first time that everyone is mounted, so we’re expecting some great abilities for getting to objectives first, along with charging in and out of combat.

Units in 40K

The White Scars Combat Patrol can also lead into full games of 40K, by picking up the Space Marines codex and adding the units that you want to meet the points value for the games you want to play. The included units all have datacards for full games of 40K, except for Suboden Khan, who is a new miniature with this box and the only place you can pick him up until released separately.

Suboden Khan rides a named grav-bike, Thunder, which comes armed with an onslaught gatling cannon (which the ATV also comes armed with), and Suboden carries a power lance called Stormtooth. Sudden’s datasheet is, as you would expect, fast and deadly, but his real power comes from leading a unit of Outriders (which also come in the Combat Patrol), as he gives them the ability to advance or fall back and shoot or charge, making it much easier to find targets and get into combat. Suboden then also benefits from the Outrider’s ability to improve the strength and damage of his attacks by 1 if the unit charged.

When Suboden’s rules are released, they will also come alongside a new detachment for the White Scars, the Spearpoint, which lets all units in your detachment advance or fall back and then charge, along with some new enhancements and stratagems for your White Scars force.

The Outriders in the Combat Patrol come armed with twin-bolt rifles for ranged, and as mentioned above, have their chainswords’ strength and damage boosted when they charge. The chainsword-wielding Assault Intercessors can re-roll wound rolls when their target is within range of an objective. They can be loaded into the Impulsor to give them some protection getting into combat, and also lay down effective fire while they capture objectives, after removing enemies from them.

Adding more Assault Intercessors and Outriders will almost definitely be your first step when expanding this into a full 40K force, and you can’t go wrong maxing out on bikes in true White Scars fashion.

White Scars Combat Patrol Final Thoughts?

The White Scars combat patrol captures everything you want in a White Scars force, which is the ability to get your troops into combat quickly, either mounted on bikes or travelling in under the protection of a vehicle. We’re still waiting to see the full Combat Patrol rules, but for Warhammer 40K, Suboden Khan and the new Spearpoint Detachment give White Scars players the chance to hit hard and fast, before withdrawing to do it all again in true Chapter doctrine style. The Suboden Khan miniature, available for the first time in this box, is an incredible piece and captures what you want from a White Scars First Company Captain.
