Games Workshop Rumor Engine: Face In The Flames

December 23, 2025

Is that a face? Whatever the latest Rumor Engine from Games Workshop is teasing is worth taking a look at!

Welcome to another Tuesday and a brand new Rumor Engine from Games Workshop. I’m really glad GW is still running the Rumor Engine so close to Christmas. Mostly because It’s something to stew on over the Holidays. Anyhow, this one is a flame but it looks…odd. Don’t take my word for it — have a look for yourself!

We’ve been reliably informed that you can see all kinds of prophetic visions by staring into the flames, so we’re giving it a go with this week’s Rumour Engine. What can you see?

Rumor Engine – Face In The Flames

So what are we looking at here? Well, I’m pretty sure the basic image is a flame but there looks like a face that’s forming inside. In fact, if you look close there appears to be two faces:

Also, and maybe this is just the paint job being converted to grey-scale, I think this fire is kind of a weird color. I don’t think it’s your typical orange/red flames is what I’m saying. Perhaps it’s a ghostly green or something else.

Maybe this is some sort of ghost in the flame? That of course makes me think of Nighthaunt. But there’s loads of spirits/ghosts floating around. Plus Chaos is known to have some freaky fire powers, too.

I’m also wondering what’s up with the mouth/altar the flames are coming out of. Are those spikes or teeth or what?

Yeah…this is super weird one. If it’s not Nighthaunt or something Chaos related (either 40k or AoS) I’m going to be surprised. Other than that, I’m at a loss. So here’s where I kick it over to you. If you’ve got any ideas of what this one could be drop us a line in the comments.  Do you think it’s a ghost or chaos? Or is this something completely different?

It’s a backpack for…a new Ultramarine Lieutenant!
