‘Public Access’ Is An Analog Horror TTRPG That Reminds Us The Internet Was Once Good

March 18, 2026

From the makers of Brindlewood Bay comes Public Access, an Analog Horror RPG full of urban legend, found footage, and weirdness.

There is something extremely compelling about Analog Horror. If you’re not sure what that is, think like The Blair Witch Project, or the kind of horror that comes alongside the vagaries of analog media. Footage of creepy stuff with hazy lines at the top. Stuff that feels like you shouldn’t be seeing it, but somehow are. Weird TV shows that nobody seems to remember. Strange things that you saw late at night on a weird channel, or heard on the radio, and now it’s gone.

And Public Access, an updated edition from the original 2023 RPG, being Kickstarted by the creators of Brindlewood Ba,y looks to capture that feel in tabletop form.

Public Access: An Analog Horror RPG

You might know the game from its original release. But in the years since, the game has changed. The new Kickstarter features revised and expanded rules. Now it has a tighter focus to its campaign structure, keeping the core mystery at the heart of the game.

I feel like this bears mentioning because the game uses the Brindlewood mystery system. If you haven’t played that game, a) you should, and b) it’s a clever set up where even the GM doesn’t know what the answer is. You play to collect Clues while investigating and then you sort of collaboratively put the pieces together to see what makes sense.

It’s this emphasis on shared worldbuilding and mystery that makes the game. You are all there to figure out what feels the most right. And while that might not be a traditional format, it’s a very satisfying way to come up with a mystery that feels fun instead of getting bogged down in trying to figure out what your friend thinks you need to know to solve a mystery.

“From the makers of the cozy-yet-suspenseful hit mystery game, Brindlewood Bay, Public Access promises a journey through a nostalgia-soaked world filled with eccentric characters, eerie settings, and downright terrifying dangers. Public Access takes inspiration from analog and found footage horror, as well as 1980s-90s American pop culture, creepypastas & other internet folklore.”

This Kickstarter is for a hardcover release of Public Access. Alongside the core book, it also features a new expansion, Signals from the Other Side, with new mysteries, Odyssey Tapes, and more. Both books are full-color, and about 150 pages each.

If you want to take the game for a spin before you decide to back it, The Gauntlet has you covered, with a free preview available right here, right now.
