Wyldwolf Games is launching a Kickstarter campaign for an original fantasy TTRPG setting. Axis Saga: The War of Silence, brings an original dark fantasy setting to Dungeons & Dragons, one full of complex morality and long-reaching consequences.
The Axis Saga: The War of Silence Kickstarter Announcement
According to its press release, Axis Saga: The War of Silence is an original dark fantasy world designed as a living world shaped by play, consequences, and stories that shape future canon. The game is set in a 16th-century-inspired world threatened by spreading portals, rising corruption, and a mysterious event known as The Great Silence.
The hook of this setting is the kind of dark fantasy this setting will portray. There are plenty of dark fantasy worlds powered by Dungeons & Dragons’ system, whether they be official settings like Ravenloft or third-party worlds like Grim Hollow or Crooked Moon. But these settings usually adhere to Dungeons & Dragons’ central heroic fantasy. Clear heroes, clear villains, clear goals.
By contrast, Axis Saga: The War of Silence is a world already in motion. The setting has been shaped by years of actual tabletop campaigns run by Wyldwolf Games, the Minnesota-based game store renowned for hosting professional Game Master experiences. An entire world with a history molded by dice rolls, player decisions, and active community support.
We wanted Axis Saga: The War of Silence to feel like a world shaped by hard choices, real consequences, and moral gray areas rather than a traditional good-versus-evil fantasy setting,” said Chase McAllister, founder of Wyldwolf Games. “That philosophy came out of years of community-driven play, where player choices and table stories helped shape the setting itself.”
Axis Saga: The War of Silence will include the following rules and products for backers:
- Tools for GMs: Including a bestiary, maps, factions, NPCs, hidden lore, and new player options including 12 subclasses, and an original character class
- Additional Support: This includes VTT support through Roll20, Dwarven Forge, and Eldritch Foundry, terrain, maps, audio, miniatures, STL files, and gameplay tools
- Tools For A Collaborative World: A world shaped by player choice and long-term engagement
- Unique Game Mechanics: Raids, Resonance, a take on vampirism known as The Gift, and The Silence Template
- Enhanced D&D 5e Rules: These include streamlined combat, updated death saves, changes to progression, and other quality-of-life improvements
- Major Campaign Hooks: This includes original factions like The Inquisition, the Redeemers, and major issues like the Portal Crisis and the rising threat of the Great Silence
Axis Saga: The War of Silence will launch on Kickstarter on April 14.
