Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2 PvP Delayed, But You’ll Get More DLCs

Following the recent Siege Update for Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2, which introduced an all-new PvE game mode as well as many smaller features, Saber Interactive has released a new community update outlining their plans for the game’s future as the first-year anniversary approaches.

The main message was to reassure players that further content is due to arrive soon. However, plans to roll out a new PvP game mode in the near future have suffered some setbacks and have been postponed.

Space Marine 2 was largely considered one of the standout games of last year, and already ranks among the best co-op shooters out there.

“We’re happy to announce that a second year of both free and DLC content included in a new yearly season pass is on the way!” said the statement. “Expect new PvE missions, enemies, weapons, and more…”

Another Year of Chaos

Update 9.0 is expected to come out at some point this July or August, and will focus primarily on tweaks and balancing issues. However, the larger 10.0 update scheduled for September plans to introduce much more.

The new PvP game mode, which was originally supposed to be part of Update 9.0, has been moved to the 10.0 update, but Saber did reveal a few key details as to what it might include.

Taking place on an all-new map, the game mode will feature Chaos vs Chaos unit types rather than Chaos vs Loyalists. In addition to being able to control a Helbrute, a range of new weapons and Chaos-specific armor are also due to be part of the update.

Finally, a new class called Techmarine is also set to join for both PvE and PvP game modes, though it was not specified which update this will be a part of.

While some fans may feel disappointed at having to wait for the new Chaos PvP mode, players can rest assured that Space Marine 2 isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. The same cannot be said about the original Space Marine game though, with the Master Crafted Edition selling few copies and being showered in negative reviews.
