There’s a new Rumor Engine out today from Games Workshop and it looks like the back end of a fast cat. But is it?
We’re back with a brand new Rumor Engine because it’s Tuesday and that’s just how it works. Today’s image is an interesting one for a few reasons. But before I lay those out you really should take a look for yourself.
“The Rumour Engine has been offering obvious clues all September. Each week’s image has been easier to guess than the last, insulting both your intelligence and our poor, abused intern. So imagine our surprise as it kicks out what might be its most obscure and hard-to-get image in more than six consecutive millennia of operation.”
Rumor Engine – The Tail End
So what are we looking at here? Well, based on the tail and the hindleg, I’m guessing we’ve got some sort of beast on our hands. What’s really curious to me is the color pattern on the tail. It’s also a little odd we can see veins in the leg…this creature must have some very short fur or none at all. So what could this be?
That’s kind of the problem. When dealing with Warhammer, you’ve got a lot of fantastical creatures in the mix. But you’ve also got really mundane ones, too. It’s a pair of universes where Cyber-Mastiffs run along horses.
Or where hunting dogs battle with hydras…
On the flip side, I know there’s a few factions we can rule out pretty easily. Necrons and Tyranids are out. I also think Orks and the Genestealer Cults are out. Another subset of factions that I’d pull from the pool are the ones in the Death Grand Alliance. There’s probably a few more from both 40k and AoS we can rule out. I do think this is a bit more of a fantastical creature but it could totally be from some genetic experiment/augmentation from 40k, too. Or even some crazy warp beast as well.
So yeah…I think the door is wide open for this one. It doesn’t help that the image is in greyscale. That really makes guessing about the paint job difficult. So here’s where I turn it over to you. If you have any ideas about what this could be let us know in the comments. I’m lost on this one.
