Goatboy’s Grimdark Armylist: Black Templar’s Tourney-Winning “Gladius of Hate”

This Gladius Black Templar list won the Denver 40k Fight Club. It’s all about amazing zealous MSU murder machines!

Ben Neal won the Denver 40k Fight Club with the following armylist. A Gladius Black Templar list designed to push as many amazing MSU murder machines into the opponent while utilizing powerful shooting to keep the pressure on. It is a brilliant list utilizing a lot of the powerful shooting interactions of Marines with built in Re-rolls mixed with the murder balls that are Sword Brethren with Marshal and Castellan to get Re-rolls to hit and 5+ Lethal Hits. That is a pile of wounds into just about anything on top of being a rather small footprint unit which easily fits into an Impulsor. The other unit gets to ride in style in one of the Repulsors that also happen to have an Emperor’s Champion coming along for the ride.

Black Templars Gladius of Hate Tactics

While there isn’t a big blob of Black Templars there is at least a ton of “angry” punching zealots ready to wreck things for the Emperor. How awesome is it that the Emperor’s Champion is back to being a mean little threat that can easily bust out of a building and wreck your face with righteous anger. I think it is a good time to be a Marine player as you got a ton of options available between the supplements and detachments available.

I really like how the army list feels simple to play if you are good at staging your army and figuring out the pressure points to wreck your opponent with. The name of the game is utilizing pressure to force your opponent into awkward situations and enough long-range damage to ensure they must keep hidden if they don’t want bullets coming in hot and wrecking their faces. I just love MSU Melee threats as they can do so much for such a tiny little area of space.
