Horus Heresy: All The Reveals From The Big Summer Previews

July 19, 2025

The Horus Heresy is getting a BUNCH of tanks for Legions Imperialis and the Age of Darkness has more in store, too!

Games Workshop had a TON of reveals at the Big Summer Preview for the Horus Heresy. I wanted to divide them up between their respective game systems. We’re going to cover both Legions Imperialis and The Age of Darkness. So let’s get EPIC first.

Horus Heresy: Legions Imperialis Reveals

There’s a whole bunch of tanks rolling into Legions Imperialis. Space Marine fans, this release is for you! You’re going to get more firepower to hang with those pesky Titans that are walking around. Or perhaps you’re looking to blow-up fortifications. Either way there’s treads for days coming your way. Additionally, Legions Imperialis is getting a handy token set as well as new formations and datasheets for your quick reference. Finally for Legions Imperialis, The Liber Strategia is coming soon. This massive tome will have all the rules for ALL the units. Between this book and the core rules you’ll be all set to play LI for years.

Horus Heresy: The Age of Darkness Reveals

The MKII Assault Squad was already teased but above are some better pictures of them. Those Chain Axes look WILD. I love the brutal-looking MKII Assault Marines. That armor paired with those jump packs is very steam-punk and I’m okay with that.

Also for the Age of Darkness there are more Journal Tactica on the way. The Forges of Saturn is going to expand your options for the new Saturnine Terminators and Dreadnoughts.

Games Work alluded to new rules for them and showed off conversion options that will be usable via The Forges of Saturn.

I’m curious what sorts of options and additions this book will open up for the future in Horus Heresy-era games. And speaking of books…

Ashes of the Imperium – The Scouring is the first book in a new multi-part, multi-author series from Black Library. This takes place in the aftermath of the Horus Heresy and it’s the next BIG writing project from Black Library. I don’t know if it will be on par with the Horus Heresy saga, but it’s certainly sounding ambitious. Personally, I’m interested because this kicks off a relatively unexplored era in the history of the Imperium. I’m curious to see how things shake out and how the lore gets formed in this uncharted area.
