Games Workshop released the Legacies of the Age of Darkness PDF and I’m still reading through this massive document for the Horus Heresy.
Yesterday, GW put out the Legacies of the Age of Darkness PDF. This is the update that brings back a lot of older units that got removed from the Liber series of books. Now, this document was planned to come out in July but was delayed. Well the wait is over and you can download the massive PDF right here. Strangely, WarCom didn’t really make a big post about this one. Instead they used one of their banner-things:
To be honest, I didn’t even register it was there yesterday on WarCom. I think I’ve probably trained my eyes to skip over banners like that when on the internet…I and doubt I’m the only one. ANYHOW, the point is that I would think GW would have made a slightly bigger deal about this document. Why? Because of the effort it took to compile this thing.
Seriously, the Table of Contents is two pages. While that might seem like it’s not a big deal, keep in mind this is a free PDF that’s over 200 pages (207 to be exact). That’s a LOT of rules and Units to update for the new edition.
Anyhow above is the full list. You can double check it with the WarCom article that had all these units mentioned in it. And again, these rules are going to be used by GW for official Horus Heresy events. So that’s about as official of an endorsement to use them in tournament/matched play as you’re going to get. It’s still up to the Tournament Organizers so check with them directly if you have any questions/concerns for any Horus Heresy events you may be attending.
You’ll find a LOT of different rules in the documents. From Wargear options to different Armoury Options, and even entire unit rules, too. There is a LOT to chew on. And it’s all been updated for the new edition of the Horus Heresy.
So if you’ve got a unit or two that was axed from the Liber books, you definitely want to check out this new PDF. I know there were folks that had converted options and there’s a good chance those are in this massive document. Good luck and happy Horus Heresy-ing.
