Justice Arman Promoted to D&D Game Design Director

December 13, 2025

Justice Arman Promoted to D&D Game Design Director

Longtime Dungeons & Dragons contributor Justice Arman has been appointed as the new Game Design Director for D&D, according to a post the designer recently shared on BlueSky. The promotion places Arman in one of the most influential creative roles at Wizards of the Coast during a period of major transition for the D&D brand, following a wave of high-profile departures and internal restructuring earlier this year.

So just what does this new role involve and what does it mean for the future of D&D? Below, we break out all the details.

Who is Justice Arman?

Justice Ramin Arman is an Iranian-American tabletop RPG designer best known for his work on Dungeons & Dragons. Before joining Wizards of the Coast, Arman worked as a freelance game designer, releasing several self-published D&D 5e products on DMsGuild and contributing to third-party publishers including Critical Role, MCDM and 2C Gaming. His work quickly caught the attention of Beadle & Grimm’s, where he worked from 2019 to 2022.

Arman later joined Wizards of the Coast in 2022 as a senior game designer and was promoted to managing game designer in 2024. He has since taken on increasing leadership responsibility across a wide range of D&D projects, including the recently released Heroes of the Borderlands D&D Starter Set and the Welcome to the Hellfire Club Stranger Things box set.

What does this mean for D&D?

Arman’s promotion comes at a critical moment for Dungeons & Dragons. In April 2025, longtime creative leads Chris Perkins and Jeremy Crawford departed Wizards of the Coast after decades overseeing the D&D team and largely shaping the 5E ruleset. A few months later, D&D Vice President Jess Lanzillo also left the company (later taking on a senior role at White Wolf) and in July 2025, Dan Ayoub was named VP of D&D franchise, further signalling a shift in leadership and long-term strategy.

Arman, however, is one of a new, younger class of designers at Wizards of the Coast who has been increasingly stepping into senior roles and a larger share of the spotlight in terms of interviews and promoting D&D products.

While Wizards of the Coast has not revealed upcoming D&D projects for 2026, it’s likely that Arman will play a central role in shaping future releases and helping to steer the game forward following the release of the D&D 2024 core rules.

Final Thoughts

Justice Arman steps into the role of game design director at a time of uncertainty and major transition for the Dungeons & Dragons brand. While it’s not clear yet how he’ll be influencing the game in the months ahead, one thing is certain: fans will be closely watching what he does next.
