Renegade Games announced its plans to publish the Exodus RPG originally developed by Archetype Entertainment.
Renegade Studios announced today that it will be publishing the Exodus RPG – the tabletop RPG based on the upcoming video game developed by WotC’s Archetype Entertainment – later in 2026. Which still means that the tabletop RPG is going to beat the official release of the video game. Here’s what we know from the announcement.
Renegade Games To Publish Archetype’s Exodus Tabletop RPG In 2026
Archetype Entertainment, who will be releasing Exodus in 2027, is a WotC-owned studio heading up the release of its first original IP-based video game. You might have seen the story. And as for the tabletop RPG, you might well have seen one of the Actual Plays showing off said RPG. Also the world of the video game.
Both the RPG and the tabletop RPG were developed by the creative team at Archetype Entertainment, including James Ohlen, formerly of Bioware, who has since stepped down as the head of the studio.
We’re excited to announce that we’re teaming up with Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast to publish the EXODUS Roleplaying Game for tabletop, based on the highly anticipated upcoming EXODUS sci-fi RPG video game.
The video game turned heads when it was revealed at The Game Awards in December 2023. Since then, EXODUS has been widely hailed by fans as a spiritual successor to the beloved Mass Effect series. The game is being developed by Archetype Entertainment, a Wizards of the Coast-owned studio founded by former BioWare veterans.
That same creative team was also behind the development of the tabletop roleplaying game, which Renegade Game Studios will publish and release in 2026.
At any rate, Renegade Games is a more Hasbro-focused entity. By which I mean, they work to publish the tabletop RPGs for Hasbro licensed properties, including GI Joe and the Power Rangers. It seems as though there’s something happening behind the scenes between Hasbro and WotC as the focus shifts to a more digital future.
Either way, you can look forward to the public release of the Exodus tabletop RPG starting in August – just in time for Gen Con.
