RPG: ‘PIRATE BORG’ Sets Sail With A New Starter Box

February 11, 2026

Avast and prepare to shiver your timbers, there’s a new PIRATE BORG starter set coming next month from Free League!

PIRATE BORG is blowing up these days. The game of rules-lite, piratical plunder in the midst of an undead apocalypse has found a crew hungry for adventure. You can tell because a slew of new expansions are in the works, including Down Among The Dead and a brand new PIRATE BORG Starter Set, which is what we’re here to talk about today.

PIRATE BORG Starter Set – Coming March 10th

We’ve talked before about the importance of a good starter box. They’re a one-stop-shop for getting players into your new game. And the PIRATE BORG Starter Set is no different. It has a lot more work to do, because PIRATE BORG‘s apocalyptic setting and cutthroat ethos really grab you by the throat the second you jump in.

Which is why it’s helpful that every part of the kit is there to get you right into the game. There’s a full on 60-page rulebook full of player options, and a 60-page deluxe adventure, Trapped in the Tropics that sinks you right into the core premise: you are all pirates on the same ship. It’s full of handouts and poster maps that all take you right into the heart of PIRATE BORG.

“The PIRATE BORG Starter Set includes everything you need for a group of 2-7 people to play the Worst Pirate RPG Ever Made(tm)! Contains softcover booklets of the Player’s Guidebook and a new adventure, Trapped in the Tropics.

The crew has been hired to locate a shipwreck on a jungle island. They’ll encounter British Redcoats, rival pirates, booby traps, hordes of zombies, and cursed relics. Designed for both brand new and experienced TTRPG players and GMs.”

You’ll also get a set of 12 dice and 2 dry erase markers so you have all you need to play right in the box. And of course, since it’s a pre-order (with a release slated for next month) you get a PDF right away so you can start your piratin’ ways without having to wait. Though I probably would, because having physical tokens and handouts is an experience that really doesn’t compare to the digital version.

Look for the PIRATE BORG Starter Set next month!
