Meow Wolf’s psychedelic foray into immersive art and reality breaking stories crashed into your tabletop in Tavers: The Meow Wolf RPG.
You might know Meow Wolf if you are a fan of immersive art/theater. Maybe your weird friends went once. Maybe you’ve been yourself to one of the many installations where something as simple or commonplace as a convenience store aisle can lead you into a whole alternate world. Where multidimensional reality leaks through to our own in an experience you can walk through. And now, the Meow Wolf roleplaying game, developed by Exalted Funeral (of Monty Python RPG fame), has hit Kickstarter. And it has hit the ground running.
At press time, the Kickstarter campaign has more than doubled its goal with a month left. Already new realities are guaranteed – now you can dig in even more. Starting with the RPG Launch Party:

Meow Wolf got its start as a DIY collective of Santa Fe artists whose original work was repurposing junk into immersive art spaces. You can see their aesthetic for yourself at any of them, or you can check out the game.
In the RPG, you play TAVERS. These are beings with a connection to “SOURCE” which is defined as the raw creative energy that flows through everything. A Taver can harness that energy to do all sorts of impossible things, like opening portals into other realities, manifesting logic-defying ideals, or even reshape reality.
At the heart of the campaign is a core rulebook with enough rules – and also story arcs – to keep you playing for quite a while. Powering it all is a bespoke RPG system developed by Exalted Funeral. You’ll roll 2d8 and see what happens as you determine the outcome of the die rolls. Using “backstory fueled skills” and a “tactile inventory management system” there’s a few extra wrinkles – you can see more at the Kickstarter Campaign linked below.
