Warhammer 40K: Come Back – Saying Goodbye to a Bunch of Missing Drukhari Units

September 30, 2025

Goatboy here with mixed feelings about a big set of units that are missing from the new 40K 10th Edition Drukhari codex.

Goatboy here with a hot mess due to some missing models in the new Dark Eldar codex.  I know a lot of players were sad to see the Beast Packs and Grotesques go and I am too.  I felt a lot of those units were some of the cornerstones of the Dark Eldar experience, so it leaves some bad feelings to see them go.  This isn’t for me as I hated trying to kill those things, but a lot of players had some nicely made-up beast packs full of counts as nonsense.

There are five missing models from the book from the good ole days.  I hinted on the first one and just the idea of some missing units we grew to love/loathe.

Bye Bye Kitty – the Beast Packs are Gone

The Beast Pack was a unit that kinda of hung on through the Codexes, (going back to 3rd Edition) and would come in go with the power level.  If you remember they had a weird Helion as the Packmaster and a whole weird vibe when compared to some of the other Wych options.  I know a lot of players missed the ability to put pressure on the opponent with a go wide strategy of tough bodies to chew through so it is probably for the better to see this unit go.

Grotesques Shuffle Offstage

This is most likely the same thing with the Grotesques as they always created a weird vibe.  This was a unit that was popular for a while and it was always weird we didn’t see a new unit made.  I know a ton of players converted them and the initial Finecast one was a single pose weird monster that didn’t always fit within the range.  It is sad to see Meat Mountain go away even though I always hated playing against them.

Court of the Archon – Is Fired!

The other unit that I feel is missing is the old combo unit of the Court of the Archon.  I really was hoping we would see an updated one that either fit into the Kill Team side of things or at least cleaned up some of the model interactions.  I just like the idea that the Archons would hang with an entourage of weirdos, and run around with them as they got into shenanigans.  This was the group that would go to the Commorragh bar, distract the bartender, and then have the small little weird dude steal a few bottles.

Urien Rakarth – The Doctor is Out

Urien is such a weird one to lose as he has such a distinct design that should be easy to “rebuild”.  The Coven units were heavily cut from this new codex and while it’s cool we have the Kabalite characters I would have really liked to see a very well updated Urien.  He also has a ton of lore that is interesting and it connects up with some of the Drukhari backstory with Vect and the whole regenerated Dark Eldar leadership.  The Coven army only has one HQ unit all the others at least have a Special Character with an HQ choice.  I can’t believe that one of the model designers didn’t have a cool idea to remake him in glorious plastic?

Vect – Still a No Show

I also still feel like there is a big missing section where Vect should show up.  Why isn’t this guy back and leading the army?  Where is his crazy Raider, the Dias of Destruction, decked out with bling, spikes, his “cheerleaders”, and some stone cold Incubi?  They have made models like this before with the Silent King so having this as a neat new centerpiece model would be amazing.  I just don’t understand why he isn’t back.

I hope we see some new Killteam updates hitting the army with either some cool flippy Wyches or maybe some neat new upgraded Helion.  That model is old and while it still fits it is a nightmare to keep on their little flight stand. A few cool smoke-like options and a cool base would do wonders to create a unique little elite murder unit.

What other things do you feel is missing from the book?  Are you excited to get a new Archon kit to try out?  Does Lady Malys have you excited to bring the dark kin to the tabletop?
