Everyone favorite festive gobbo is back this year with a new commemorative miniature. Da Red Gobbo rides again with help from his new Tinboy.
This has become a bit of a holiday tradition from Games Workshop. Back once again we have Da Red Gobbo here to spread some holiday cheer. And maybe some devious schemes and/or bombs down the chimney. That’s still a bit unclear. Anyhow, there’s a new miniature our this one so let’s see what he’s looking like this year.
It may look like a nutcracker, but the only thing it’ll be cracking is skulls if they try to stop Da Gobbo from delivering his payloads to all the good Boyz and Nobz this year. Someone might want to tell the Vostroyan Firstborn that their style is being pinched, although we have to admit, the Tinboy is certainly a revolutionary piece of engineering.
Da Red Gobbo’s Tinboy
This is certainly an interesting take on Da Red Gobbo for this year. I guess he swapped out the snowman for this new Tinboy. And I do think it’s looking a bit like the Vostroyans which actually makes a lot of sense. Anyhow, this robotic contraption looks like a wind-up toy combined with a nutcracker. but Da Red Gobbo appears to be piloting (?) it. Or perhaps just riding in it.
I’d kind of like to see this miniature in person as I’m a little confused by the Red Gobbo’s pose here. I think he’s climbing out of the top/neck but it’s hard to see exactly how he’s able to do that. The details on the Tinboy are neat though. I like the beaten metal divots and the rifle has lights on the tip. It certainly reminds me an ornament.
Anyhow, I do like when GW gets creative with their miniatures and does these commemorative ones. Even if they aren’t your cup of tea I still like to see what GW can do. Also, if you want to get in the …holiday(?) spirit, Da Red Gobbo has a new novel coming out, too.
“Da Red Gobbo’s Last Stand by new Black Library author Andi Ewington thrusts an unfortunate grot named Bodgit into the depths of a recently emerged space hulk, where the odds of survival are low for Space Marines, let alone Gretchin. To make matters worse, Kaptin Bludhook is out to make the poor grot’s life even more miserable – but the spirit of Da Red Gobbo smolders inside Bodgit’s breast, and his newfound revolutionary power might just be enough to outwit the Freebooter Kaptin and escape from the malformed hulk’s clutches.”
Maybe it’s more Revolutionary spirit instead. I’m a little curious about the juxtaposition of a character like Da Red Gobbo and the dangers of a Space Hulk. But I think that’s also kind of the point of this one. It could be a fun read or at least a nice little distraction for a while.
