The Nightbringer is back with an updated miniature for Warhammer 40,000. Seems like it’s not just Space Marines getting a Primaris Update!
The C’tan Shard of the Nightbringer has a pretty old miniature. So I’m glad to see Games Workshop is updating it with a brand new look. It’s got a few nods to the old miniature for sure. But enough talk — here’s a look at the miniature!
“The new plastic C’tan Shard of the Nightbringer brings its classic miniature from 2002 bang up to date. Wielding a giant scythe, with its necrodermis cape billowing out behind it and attended by swarms of Scarabs, the new iteration is a perfect centerpiece for your immortal Necron host, and rivals the Shard of the Void Dragon in its dark majesty.”
The C’tan Shard of the Nightbringer
Here’s the new miniature in all it’s Nightbringer-glory! You can see this is more than just a simple glow-up. We’re seeing the Nightbringer on a much larger base and there’s a whole lot more going on in the design department. That cape seems to be transforming from cloth to that digitized-necron thing they do.
I’m liking the update overall! The scarab swarm coming out of the cloak with the Necron-green energy coursing about is great effect. I really can’t wait to see what the community does with this one on the tabletop.
You can rest assured, it’s not just a fancy new miniature either. There’s more coming for the Nightbringer…
“To mark the emergence of this new threat, there will be a deadly new datasheet to go alongside the new miniature.”
Oh, and that’s not all. According to GW, the Nightbringer will also be featured in a special new mission for Kill Team.
“The Nightbringer will also be appearing as a Non-Playable Operative in Kill Team – an awesome new development for the game and a fitting final boss for your brave band of warriors.”
That sounds awesome and ominous at the same time. Also, those new Kill Teams…I wonder if GW is trying to tease something there in the image above…
Anyhow, the Nightbringer is back with a vengeance. I don’t know about everyone else but I kind of want to get one just to paint. I don’t play Necrons (although I’ve almost started that army like 4 times). The fact I can use it for Kill Team is just icing on top.
