‘Warhammer: The Old World’ – Bretonnians Still Have It – Win Big In Finland

February 25, 2026

Take a look at how Bretonnians are still winning major Warhammer: The Old World events in 2026, this time in Finland!

This last weekend saw what I understand to be the biggest ToW event in Finland at the Talvisota 2026 Grand Tournament. In it 60 players competed for the top spot over 5 great games. Now a lot of people have been saying that Brets have been eclipsed in the current meta. However recent events like Talvisota have shown that Bretonnians can still bring in the big wins at events. Juha Tuominen running a fast Errantry Crusade list was able to take the top spot with a 4-0-1 record and 12 battle points above the 2nd place player. The event had some light comp which you can find here. So today lets take a look at this list and how it works. And congrats to Juha and all the players.

Juha’s Errantly List

225 – Lady Élisse Duchaard

277 – Baron, Shield, The Crusader’s Vow, Virtue of Knightly Temper, Barded Pegasus, Ogre Blade

336 – Duke, Lance, Shield, Virtue of Heroism, General, Barded Pegasus, Gromril Great Helm, Sirienne’s Locket

141 – Paladin, Lance, Shield, The Crusader’s Vow, Errantry Banner, Barded Pegasus, Luckstone

208 – 9 Knights Errant, The Crusader’s Vow, Gallant, Standard Bearer, War Banner

222 – 10 Knights Errant, The Crusader’s Vow, Gallant, Standard Bearer, Banner of Chalons

126 – 6 Knights Errant, The Crusader’s Vow, Gallant, Standard Bearer

104 – 13 Squires, Scouts

359 – 5 Pegasus Knights, The Crusader’s Vow, First Knight, Standard Bearer, Totem Of Wrath

How The Bretonnian List Works

This is overall a pretty straight forward list. You’ve got units of Knight Errant (two are required) these are pretty cheap throw away units than can multi-charge to add some combat res. One of them has the banner of Chalons to turn off stand and shoot, great for fighting Dwarves. You’ve got a decent squad of scouts to pull some tricks and go after baggage trains. Élisse Duchaard makes up the magic section of the list. She brings some great anti-magic capabilities and also can throw out great buffs. She’s likely going to stick in one of the Errant units and ride around for buffs (she also gives them magic attacks, great for dealing with ethereal).

The main punch of the list however is in the Pegasi as its been for a while. While the Royal Pegs got nerfed in the FAQ it’s clear people have just switched over to the barded pegs and the list is still working pretty well. You’ve got a strong unit of 5 pegs with the Totem of Wrath. You’ve also then got a Baron, a Duke and a BSB on Pegs to go around and smash face.

Taking a Look At The Characters

Now we’ve talked about the Duchaard already, but lets take a deeper look at the Peg characters. First up we have the Duke, he’s been given the Virtue of Heroism, the Gromril Greathelm and Sirienne’s Locket. This load out keeps him a bit on the cheaper end and makes him quite tank-y. He’s got a 2+ save and re-rolls 1s, and a 5+ ward and can get a regen from Duchaard. With 5 wounds and not taking multi-wounds all this means you need to hit him a whole lot to kill him. With Totem of Wrath he gets to re-roll 1s to wounds, so more fishing for killing blows/monster slayers and he’s hitting at S8 AP-3 on the charge, so pretty brutal.

The Baron is a pretty obvious blender Baron. He gets a ton of attacks with very high S and AP on the charge and he can just really dole out the pain. Lastly we’ve got the BSB Paladin. He’s got the Erranty Banner to give the unit (and other characters) +1s on the charge, meaning the unit hits like a freight train. A luckstone gives him a little better change to stick around.

These three characters can all go in the Peg Knights, but either the Baron or Duke are strong enough to fly around on their own and do some major damage. Thanks to all the Errant units they have plenty of places to hide and strike from.

Overall its not the craziest list I’ve seen. Indeed that it did so well is a credit to Juha and their running of the list. So once again congrats and well played!
